Additional Telemetry Units are becoming more common as event reporting is becoming mandatory in many contracts worldwide. To be compliant specifically for NAFC, you will need to be looking at capturing data sets for bucket fills, bucket drops, takeoffs, and landings.

Modern telemetry units are becoming very well-suited and cost-effective for this. The AFDAU-T1, DZMx, and Trotter DataVault are specific units that allow for the automatic capture of these data sets. 

Here is an image of the event reporting requirements for firebombing events taken from a recent NAFC resource:

As you can see: Load, Start of drop, and End of drop are the event types that need to be accurately captured and recorded.

Trevor McIntyre adds to this information, stating, “Machine readable information will be a necessity, where the core systems operators use will need to be robust, scalable and reliable enough to take the information in real-time and present it in a meaningful format, in order to make informed decisions.”
