The SoCal Air Network (SCAN) is a new collaborative initiative that gives Southern California’s aerial firefighting agencies a shared view of the skies. Powered by the TracPlus platform and completely additive to existing workflows, SCAN enhances situational awareness, coordination, and operational safety all at no cost through 2025. It’s a model of how collaboration can strengthen wildfire response.
Leading a New Era of collaboration within Southern California Aerial Firefighting Wildfire response in Southern California has always relied on teamwork. Multiple agencies, dozens of aircraft, and countless professionals coming together under immense pressure to protect lives, property, and landscapes.
The SoCal Air Network (SCAN) has been created to strengthen that collaboration by providing a shared, secure platform for visibility of aerial firefighting operations.
What SCAN Brings to the Table
SCAN gives participating agencies a single, secure, real-time map that displays all participating aircraft in one place creating a common operating picture of the skies for everyone involved. This enhances situational awareness, streamlines coordination, and supports better outcomes for all.
With SCAN, participating agencies can:
There’s no new hardware to install, no workflows to redesign, and no disruption to operations. SCAN is completely additive, enhancing the systems agencies already know and trust.
Powered by TracPlus
Built on the proven TracPlus platform, SCAN is secure, data-driven, and simple to participate in. TracPlus manages all integration behind the scenes, allowing agencies to focus fully on their mission.
And to ensure no barriers to participation, agencies that aren’t currently TracPlus customers are being offered free access to TracPlus Cloud through December 31, 2025.
Wildfires in Southern California are not slowing down
Wildfires in Southern California are becoming more frequent and complex. SCAN helps participating agencies by providing a clearer, shared picture of the airspace they are operating in improving awareness, coordination, and efficiency for the communities they serve.
“TracPlus has enabled the creation of the SoCal Air Network by giving agencies a secure, shared platform to collaborate in real time. This initiative is an example of how technology can bring people together to improve safety and strengthen wildfire response.”
- John O’Hara, CEO of TracPlus
We are encouraging interested agencies to get in touch. As more agencies join SCAN, the shared picture becomes even more powerful, giving everyone a fuller picture that helps keep people, property, and ecosystems safe.
