RockSTAR Device Reset Guide

ROCKSTAR reset guide to help restore normal operation if the device is unresponsive or experiencing connectivity issues. 

Soft Reset Procedure

Using the Power Button

  1. Identify the Alert button (red) and the Down button on the device.
  2. Press and hold both buttons at the same time.
  3. Keep the buttons pressed until a countdown appears on the display.
  4. Allow the countdown to reach 3 without releasing the buttons.
  5. Once the countdown completes, release both buttons.
  6. The device will automatically restart and emit a confirmation beep to indicate that the reset has been successful.

Clearing the Error Flags

  1. If the device is displaying a persistent error code and is not responding normally, access the device menu to clear the active error flag.
  2. From the Home screen, press OK to open the main menu.
  3. Navigate to Advanced and select Errors.
  4. Choose Clear Error Flag from the available options.
  5. Confirm the action if prompted and allow the device to process the request.

After Resetting

After the device has restarted:

  1. Verify the Display is back on.
  2. Place the device in an area with a clear view of the sky and allow sufficient time for the device to reacquire a GPS position.
  3. Confirm Bluetooth Connectivity in TP Connect app.
  4. Ensure the tracker has a clear view of the sky.
  5. Check that position reports are being received in TracPlus.
  6. Send a test message if messaging functionality is being used.
  7. Monitor the device for several reporting intervals to confirm normal operation.

When Should I Perform a Reset?

Perform a reset if:

  • The device has stopped reporting positions.
  • Messages are not sending or receiving.
  • The status LEDs indicate abnormal operation.
  • The device appears frozen or unresponsive. 
  • Connectivity issues persist after moving to an area with a clear view of the sky.
  • TracPlus Support requests a reset as part of troubleshooting.
