Managing Geofences

Geofencing in TracPlus Cloud allows you to create virtual perimeters (geofences) on the map and get notifications when assets enter or exit those areas. This is useful for monitoring fleet activity, enhancing safety, and improving operational awareness.

What is a Geofence?

A geofence is a user-defined area on the map. Once set, TracPlus monitors your assets against that boundary and triggers alerts when activity occurs.

Examples of how geofences can be used:

  • Alert when an aircraft enters or leaves a designated area.

  • Monitor vehicles arriving at or departing from a depot.

  • Track maritime assets entering restricted waters.

How to Create a Geofence

  1. Navigate to the manage section in the left-hand menu.

  2. Under TracPlus Labs, select "Geofences"
  3. Select Create a new geofence.

  4. Use the map to draw the shape of your geofence.

    • You can adjust the shape and size by clicking and dragging the boundary points.

    • To finish the shape, click on an existing point.
  5. Name your geofence and set the alert preferences.

    1. There are three options: on Enter only, on Exit only, and on Enter and Exit.
    2. You can also set a desired altitude limit.
  6. Save your geofence.

Managing Geofences

  • View all created geofences under the Geofencing tab.

  • Edit, delete, or update alert settings as needed.

  • Assign geofences to specific assets or groups for tailored monitoring

Notifications

When an asset crosses a geofence boundary, TracPlus can notify you via:

  • Text Alerts (if configured)

  • Email notifications (if configured)

These notifications can be set up in the Event notification section in TracPlus Cloud.
