For older RockAIR units (namely, the 3G unit), you may want to disable the cellular capability to reduce latency and/or gaps in tracking. 3G network towers are being phased out worldwide, you can check your area's network map to see if there is still 3G capability in the area.
On the flip side, for newer units (namely, the LTE unit) you should enable the cellular capability unless suggested otherwise.
iOS Settings:
To enable/disable the cellular capability, you will need to download the TP Connect app from the App Store.
- Connect to the device via bluetooth, using the TP Connect app.
- Make sure your bluetooth on your phone/iPad is turned on
- If prompted, the PIN is 1 2 3 4 by default
- Click on the Configure tab, under the Advanced section, click on Custom
- If prompted, the PIN is 4 3 2 1 by default
- Find the section named Settings and it needs to be configured as follows:
- Enable: GPRS Strategy: Preferred
- Disable: GPRS Strategy: Never
- Head to the My Device tab and Disconnect From Device
Android Settings:
To enable/disable the cellular capability, you will need to download the RockCONNECT app from the Play Store.
- Connect to the device via bluetooth, using the RockCONNECT app.
- Make sure your bluetooth on your phone
- Click on the Advanced tab -> GPRS
- If prompted, the PIN is 1 2 3 4 by default
- Find the section named Settings and it needs to be configured as follows:
- Enable: GPRS Strategy: Preferred Cost bias
- Disable: GPRS Strategy: Never
- Head to the My Device tab and Disconnect From Device
