Australia’s aerial firefighting capabilities have been hugely boosted in the past few years due to the grit and determination of Kestrel Aviation founder, Captain Ray Cronin. Last year was one of the hottest Winter’s on record in Australia amid a “long-term warming trend” mostly caused by climate change. Consequently, Ray’s work is vital — and he’s stopping at nothing to ensure Australia is prepared for the wildfire season ahead and the threat climate change places.

Women in Aviation -Onwards and Upwards

In April 1955, Jean Ross Howard Phelan and five other female helicopter pilots met for the first time at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. At this time, there were only 13 Helicopter pilots worldwide. The result was the formation of Whirly-Girls International — and their goal was to support and uplift the few women pilots that existed worldwide.
