Women in Aviation -Onwards and Upwards
In April 1955, Jean Ross Howard Phelan and five other female helicopter pilots met for the first time at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. At this time, there were only 13 Helicopter pilots worldwide. The result was the formation of Whirly-Girls International — and their goal was to support and uplift the few women pilots that existed worldwide.
