TracPlus is Growing

The TracPlus team has grown exponentially over the last 12 months, and there are no signs of slowing.

We’ve recently welcomed nine new team members to the TracPlus Team. From development to marketing, each individual brings a unique skill set and personality to the office. Here's more from each of the new crew, and what has brought them to TracPlus.

Lee Barnett

I’m Lee, the newest team member here! I’ll be joining the team in a Customer Support Role.

Prior to TracPlus, I worked as a flight attendant with Virgin Blue as well as studied. Russell (the other part to me) took ownership of Heli-Central back in 2010, so for the past 8 years, I have been his right-hand woman. We run a mob of machines in a variety of operations. We currently have machines operating the fire season in both NSW and QLD. Most of the fire pilots know Russell which means we are able to give live feedback in the field, or we can troubleshoot on our own systems. I work alongside a few chopper companies to help them do paperwork so this new role will fit along nicely.

Outside my busy schedule I ride and train horses, if I’m not doing that, you’ll find me with my two kids or sewing. We live on a cattle property in Central QLD so when we aren’t chasing choppers we are chasing cows, fixing fences or screaming at the dogs to stop doing something they shouldn’t.

I chose TracPlus because we run the units in our machines. We originally had a different tracker for our machines until we met the sales team at AgGrow. Shawn, the product manager of TracPlus realised how fun we were and got to know our processes and my drive to make our company an entirely paperless system, from passenger manifests to our maintenance releases, we are about 80% there for our paperless goal of 2020.

There are many things I like about TracPlus, there weren't any pushy sales speeches, there was honesty and an easy-going relationship. For us the product functionality and tracking systems of TracPlus were far superior than any other.

The live tracking is the first thing I check when I wake up, and until the end of the day I know where my team is and what they’re doing. The trackers take out the constant anxiety of worrying about pilots or finding out where they are. We also use the tracking systems for post-mission analysis, because we have all tracking data at the touch of a button, we can work out how efficient our spray pilots are based on their run times.

Raul Rivas

I’m Raul, also known by the name Oscar. I’ve recently joined TracPlus as an intern for Backend and Mobile development.

I’m originally from Mexico City and I’ve been living in New Zealand for almost three years with my lovely partner. We moved to New Zealand because one of our biggest dreams in life was to work and study overseas, and so far it has been an amazing experience.

Three cool things about me that you should know about is that I’m a positive-vibe person, I’m a huge believer that we only get what we give! I’m friendly, there is always something to learn from others and I love video games, I find them incredibly relaxing.

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to join TracPlus, apart from all the fun in the office, I find working at TracPlus a great way to improve my skills and learn from others.

James Elworthy

I’m James the new multimedia designer here at TracPlus. My role from day to day varies from working on special projects, anything from market research to physical product design. My role also consists of shooting, editing videos, doing animation work, product illustration and documentation.

I came to Dunedin 22 years ago to do a Bachelor of Science at Otago, eventually leaving with a PhD. When I got into the workforce I found myself doing a lot of multimedia design, much of that involved working with photoshop and illustrator work.  I also work on a lot of explainers, case studies and assorted promos, but more recently I’ve been dabbling into 3D.

In my spare time, I love building and making gadgets, often flying ones. I used to play a lot of music before I had to give it up due to other commitments.

What I like about TracPlus; well today it’s the doughnuts! It was an easy decision to join TracPlus, I had previously worked with two other people on the team and only ever heard good things about the team and the company.

Hugo Ayre

I’m Hugo, one of the many new developers here at TracPlus. My role consists of working closely with the other developers and my computer to work through problems in the software.

After spending four years studying Computer Science at Otago, I just couldn’t get enough of the weather Dunedin has to offer. I’ve got a passion for computer programming, especially if I can develop a system which will help others. I had heard that TracPlus had a collective of fantastic platform developers, so I’m excited to get amongst it and develop some awesome programmes.

TracPlus stood out to me because GPS/Radio has been a huge part of my life, especially growing up. In my early days, my family and I spent time sailing around the waters of the pacific on our yacht. While sailing we had to set up a pirate radio to transmit our coordinates, I can only imagine how much simpler it would have been if we had a provider like TracPlus! I can’t wait to relay my life experiences into the company while playing my role in building a world-leading operating system.

Frank Liang

I’m Frank, I just started as a Web Frontend Web Development Intern at TracPlus. Currently, I am working on small issues on our platform and understanding the whole system.

I came to New Zealand from China with my wife back in 2018. In the same year, I started my Graduate Diploma in Information Technology at Whitireia to improve my programming and development skills. Before coming to New Zealand I spent my last five years in Japan, obtained my Master’s Degree in Information Systems and then worked for a German company in an IT support role. I can also speak three languages (English, Japanese, and Mandarin), still, I keep learning how to communicate with computers in their languages and I believe I can master them well one day.

In my spare time, I love to cook and walk along parks or beaches to embrace the beautiful nature of New Zealand. When I’m not outside, I love watching English and Japanese shows at home.

TracPlus stood out to me because they help their clients and assist in saving people’s lives when emergencies happen. That truly aroused great interest in me because I enjoy helping people and sharing my experiences and knowledge with anyone who needs it. I believe TracPlus does this very well and it definitely reflects on their team and clients.

TracPlus provided the opportunity to enter a role I really wanted and love to do. I believe there are reasons that brought me to TracPlus and I can’t wait to grow.

Even though I am very new to TracPlus, I have already loved working here. I feel like everyone is not only treated just as a team member but as a family member. Because I work with super-friendly colleagues, I always feel supported and encouraged. The environment around me is fun and never boring!

Jason Tsao

I’m Jason and I’m originally from Auckland but have recently moved south to start my new role at Tracplus as a Front End Development Intern.

My job is to make enhancements and build new features on the user interface and fix bugs on the front end. I work mostly with Javascript, Cascading Style Sheets and React.

In Auckland, I studied a Diploma in Computing at Unitec to pursue a career in web development. Over my time at university, I developed a passion for Javascript development and front end technologies. I find the process of developing a system in which I can physically see being used as a finished product, very satisfying. I have learnt early on in my time there will be more than enough opportunity for me to show off my development skills. It’s a very exciting prospect for me and I look forward to seeing what I can come up with this year. In my spare time, I enjoy shopping and trying out different restaurants.

I’ve enjoyed working at TracPlus. I love how the company provides amazing opportunities for young developers like myself to participate in real-life projects whilst also working with a friendly, smart and hard-working team.

Hayden Johnston

I’m Hayden, one of the Marketing Interns. My role at TracPlus is to support the marketing team with content creation, social media and general marketing and business operations.

I was born and raised here in Dunedin and I am currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University majoring in Marketing management. Outside of work, I try to get outside as much as I can. A lot of my spare time is put into the sporting and social activities. Playing multiple sports all year round.

I love TracPlus’ team culture, it’s attractive for someone who is new to the business world. The staff and management are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s great to know you’re working for a company who values their people and it obviously has a positive effect on everyone. There’s a lot to be said about a company that provides great opportunities to young professionals, giving them a great start into the business world.

My role in the company is very dynamic, TracPlus’ modern approach to business means my job is challenging but also very rewarding. I can't wait to see what kind of opportunities TracPlus have to offer in the future.

Sophia Taing

I’m Sophia, the other Marketing Intern here at TracPlus. My role consists of various different things, at the moment I am responsible for event organising, digital/print advertising along with supporting the marketing team with content creation and managing TracPlus social media.

I come from a background in Management and Marketing. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago. I am mostly known for running a Biotechnology social enterprise start-up company called Kaika Energy that transformed food waste into biofuel and fertiliser.

In my spare time, you can find me heavily involved with the Dunedin start-up community, going on spontaneous walks, shooting archery targets or spending time with family and friends.

The first thing I noticed about TracPlus when I started was that it has an outstanding company culture within its team and with their customers. It’s amazing to see how a company goes that extra mile to form a personal connection with everyone. Another thing that is clearly shown is the growth of the company, from when I started I have seen exceptional growth in both the team and performance. I’m proud to be a part of this special team. TracPlus is one to look out for!

Josh Aitcheson

I’m Josh the finance intern here at TracPlus, my job consists of assisting in the finance division, dealing with the day to day accounts of the company as well as being a part of the special project team.

Currently, I am studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago majoring in Accounting and Finance. Outside of work I spend a lot of time playing basketball. I have been lucky enough to have been chosen to be part of many great teams which has allowed me to travel to 6 different countries (Including China 5 times) and all around New Zealand.

I had worked for Trevor (CEO) before TracPlus at another company and knew the kind of work environment that he enjoyed and aims to create. Everyone in the office always enjoyed working and were always passionate about their work which has made it a fun environment to work in.

What I love about my role is that I can be involved in a lot of different areas of a business. My associates are highly experienced and are always there to help me develop transferable business skills. TracPlus is an exciting business and I can’t wait to be a part of their journey.
