Distress Monitoring and Notification Options

Providing a distress monitoring and notification service is a vital part of what we do here at TracPlus. We’re making a few changes on how this works, so it’s very important you understand what this means for you and your operations. Here’s a rundown.

What Are The Three New Distress Notification Options?

As our customers have varying needs, we provide three different options for what happens when the Distress button is pushed.

  • Notify Only (included free with all plans)
Upon receipt of a Distress message, a text message is sent to your nominated ICE contacts every two minutes until acknowledged by reply SMS. No further action is taken by TracPlus.

  • Notify Then Call ($5 per monitored asset per month)
Upon receipt of a Distress message, a text message is sent to your nominated ICE contacts. If no acknowledgement is received within five minutes, our support team will call your ICE contacts in order until a handover can be achieved. If no handover can be achieved, TracPlus will escalate to the relevant authorities.

  • Notify and Call* ($10 per monitored asset per month)
Upon receipt of a Distress message, a text message is sent to your nominated ICE contacts. TracPlus will simultaneously call your ICE contacts in order until a handover can be achieved. If no handover can be achieved, TracPlus will escalate to the relevant authorities.

*This is the equivalent of our old service, and all currently monitored devices will continue to receive this service free of charge until 1 July 2018 to allow sufficient time for any changes to your internal procedures and/or documentation.

What Do I Need To Do Right Now?

You should be aware of the new notification options (as set out above and in the attached diagram) that will be available to you when you add a new device. You will also need to decide before 1 July 2018 how you would like to be notified of any distresses for your existing devices. You will also need to consider any changes to your internal procedures that may be required.

What else do I need to know?

Some devices do not have a distress switch fitted. These devices do not need distress monitoring.

SMS per-message fees are charged separately for all options.

We understand that choosing the correct distress plan is an important decision for you, so please be reassured that we are here 24/7 to help you with any queries or concerns you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@tracplus.com, or to one of our regional support centres listed below, and we will do our very best to help you out.
